VARIABLE SPEED

DC GENERATORS

When feeding variable loads, the power demand from the generator is also variable.  Constant speed generators are tuned to operate at high efficiency only at their full load demand.  For a variable load, engine speed should also vary according to the load demand, where optimum fuel is consumed for that particular load level.
Designed for Telecom

Blue Site Power offers system design based on a variable speed diesel engine coupled with a PMG alternator and a high efficiency DC/DC power convertor unit to provide 48Vdc (4OVdc 6OVdc adjustable) "Telecom Standard” power, in order to charge the Telecom Battery Bank directly. DCDG control system also monitors the Utility Supply line & all other power sources available and feeds the load with the lowest costing option. The Battery Management System (BMS) algorithm controls the charging patterns for optimum performance.

Fuel Savings &
Lower Maintenance

With Blue Site Power, engine speed is precisely controlled according to load power demand. Available engine power is adjusted in order to utilize optimum fuel over the demanded power curve of the load. This concept reduces the average speed of the engine thus saving fuel and minimizing maintenance costs. Integrated Power Management Software ensures that available power priority into the load will be handled properly between Renewable Energy, Utility and Diesel Generator.

Renewable Energy Integration

Blue Site Power system design also allows “Renewable Energy” sources to be utilized with the DCDG power unit. The control algorithm can be upgraded to accept the Solar MPPT converter system to be directly coupled to the DC bus-bar. This will automatically prioritize available Renewable Power and control the autonomy between Utility, Generator and Available Solar/Wind energy. The control algorithm targets the optimum use of energy descending from the lowest cost source. Direct connection of solar/wind power output on to the DC bus-bar ensures high efficiency and system reliability. Integrated software allows automatic parameter sharing of the solar inverter with the DCDG.

PMA Efficiency

In variable speed DC applications, Blue Site Power uses a Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA), which provides much higher efficiency than excited rotor AC alternators. Over the full variable speed range, the efficiency of PM alternator is consistent whereas; excited rotor alternator loses efficiency below its intended speed level.  With the elimination of the need for AC air conditioners, the main power requirement is now 48VDC for the Telecom equipment. Therefore, using a DC generator eliminates all the unwanted inefficiencies of the classical AC generators and also brings redundancy for the Telecom Rectifiers.
